GET A HAT › Beach Pirate #23

Beach Pirate #23

$90.00

Like a true pirate we have all know and love, are the mistakes that ended up creating this hat truly mistakes, or all part of the plan? Starting with a black paper straw hat that makes the crown, this was a hat whose brim just wasn’t coming out right. The leather brim, was an attempt at making a leather fedora but I ordered the wrong weight of leather, tried to make it work, and ended up with this starter brim. Together, they started to speak to me with rebellion, combining straw and leather to be a pirate inspiration. The shape on top is a take on a cowboy hat style called the Gus, but morphed into what I am calling a fish crease on top. This also mimics the 3 points of the pirate brim. The leather was kept raw and unfinished on one side with live edges and a nice tanned weathered look to show the world. 3 different skull conchos are the pins to keep the hat high and tight, red stitching accents go great with the red feather and Bordeaux leather comfort band. Taking the hodge-podge nature of this hat, I used leftover black jean material for the head band. Super fun and unique hat that is surprisingly wearable outside of special occasions. Wait, I take that back, wearing this hat makes it a special occasion. Size 59
